FAQ

Q: What promotion options are you providing to help our apps grow?

A: You’ll get free promotion for your app from sponsoring companies and big apps that agreed to offer free advertising to apps that launch in the weekend

Q: Given our somewhat limited web programming experience, would it be advisable for us to participate?

A: In fact, that’s a good reason to participate. Because we’ll have a lot of developers so you can ask and get help if you get stuck on something. You need to be able to build basic Web applications in PHP, RoR, Python, .NET, or any other platform though.

Q: I’m a graphics designer or marketing expert and I’m coming with a team of developers. Would we be able to enter and work together without asking me to help other teams? I’d love to help out, but I think we may need all the time we can get.

A: Absolutely. If you’re part of a team, you work with your team.

Q: Would we be allowed to use any of our prior work for the event, or would we be required to start from scratch?

A: Yes, use your prior work. But some promotions and gifts will only apply to new apps launched for the first time in the weekend.

Q: I’m a graphics designer or marketing expert, will I get equity in the Apps I help building?

A: That depends. If you come with a team of developers, or team up with a team in the event, then arrange an agreement with them to either get a percentage or get paid for your work. However, you can still get good karma and build relationships for
the future if you help many teams with simple things like ideas, icons or logos. These relationships tend to pay in future business opportunities.

Q: Do you want more sponsors?

A: Yes, if you help us cover the cost of meals, or offer prizes to developers, or help with hosting expenses, we’ll be grateful.

Q: How can I contact you?

A: email us at: info -at- weekendapps.com

Can I be on more than one team ? I have several brilliant ideas, but I don’t code so other than articulating the underlying system that code would be written for, I’d only need to create the viral marketing message and banner to kick it into gear once the coding is complete (most of which I could do ahead of time).

How is the pitching of ideas done that starts at 7:30 ? Is it only by face to face networking or can you get up to a microphone and do a 1 minute pitch ? If I have 3 ideas can I have 1 minute each ? Will there be a video display to pitch idea with 3 PPT slides.

Peter, You can pitch more than one idea, but no slides. It’s going to be up to you to present great ideas and show what you’ll be bringing to the table to convince developers to join your team. Putting one team together is going to be hard enough, let alone more than one.
